More FAQs

How do I get started?  Everything starts with pain-free movement, and the Intu-Flow® DVD or The Intu-Flow® Complete package is recommended for beginners, regardless of athletic ability (or lack thereof). For those eager to experience Prasara Body-Flow Yoga, the FlowFit® DVD is a great option for self-study. Clubbell training builds upon practice of Intu-Flow®, with The Big Book of Clubbell Training and The Encyclopedia Of Clubbell Training strongly recommended. For more info, check out The 3 Wings.

Why the emphasis upon pain-free movement and overall health?  The state of your health determines how well your training will progress and your chances of avoiding injury. For a brief, insightful explanation of why movement is important to your health, watch The Fuzz Speech, courtesy of Gil Hedley, Ph.D. (Windows version; Mac version available at www.GilHedley.com).

Do I have to work with an instructor?  No, but thousands of satisfied clients would tell you that working with a CST instructor whenever possible is THE way to go. One hour with a CST instructor may save you months of trouble, prevent injuries, and vastly simplify the process of reaching your goals. One-on-one training is ideal, but group events and distance coaching are great alternatives. Click to find a CST Instructor in your area.

Will CST work for me if I have a significant medical condition?  CST is a health-first fitness system that may complement appropriate medical treatment depending on the nature of your condition. Get medical clearance from your health professional prior to beginning this, or any other, exercise program. Contact a CST instructor to determine an appropriate course of action prior to starting CST practice. Do I have to eat a special diet?  A healthy diet will dramatically improve your performance, energy levels, body composition, and overall good feelings. CST advocates incremental improvement of your overall eating habits, and offers some simple guidelines you may use. These guidelines are based in part upon the pioneering work of Dr. Kathleen DesMaissons, Ph.D., whose home web site is www.RadiantRecovery.com.

Do I have to buy a bunch of equipment?  No, CST emphasizes the use of your body, though some specialized equipment may be necessary to achieve various goals. Some people start with home-built versions of equipment, but these are prone to failure and do not have the safety characteristics built into authentic exercise equipment. It is recommended that you replace home-built gear with professionally--made equipment at the earliest opportunity. Suggestions for temporary home-built gear can be found by searching the RMAX Forums online.
